Scrapbook Your Life!

JLO is back!!!!

It's been SEVEN long months since I was last at Scrapbook Your Life!  I can hardly wait to see everyone again and meet new friends.....and SHOP!!!!

Here's my class schedule....I'll only be teaching 9 classes this trip, but my friend and fellow artist, Susan Mostek, will be with me on National Scrapbook Day.  Are you ready to play???

NOTE:  There will be individual supply lists for each class so check with the store when you sign up to see just what you need to bring with you.  I will also post the supply list with each blog

Diecut Dolly - decorate a hinged tin and create a diecut storage system.  Learn how to use the Revolution and dies from 1" to 12".  Everyone who takes this class will take home 3 free mini dies!!!

Play with Me! - This is a beginning level copic marker and airbrush class.  We'll make a totally cute acrylic tag book that you can load with photos when you take it home.  You'll learn all kinds of fun things about copic markers and airbrushing, so be sure to bring your markers and air with you!  Oh...should I say...this class will be full of (hot) air???  LOL!!!

Family - Wait til you see the photos for this class!  You know I love journals and this one is made with pockets and envelopes, folders and tags and is completely fun!  This class will be jammed packed with ideas on how to use your photos, how to put multiple photos on a page, how to take a page and make it interactive and how to use the bind-it-all.

Summer Fun - this is a more advanced copic marker class.  Again, we are working with acrylic covers on a min journal, but each page inside the book will give you a chance to test diferent types of papers with your markers.  We'll discuss the difference between paper weight, surface, specialty, bleed factor and more.  You'll again be working with your airbrush....but this class is all about masking.  You'll learn how to use frisket, masque paper, diecuts, dies, and stencils as masks and so much more.  We'll be airbrushing scenic backgrounds as well and as a final bonus - learn all the benefits of using undu with your projects!   Everyone who takes this class will take home a set of mini clear stamps as well!

Metal Fun - ok, yes, I need a better name for this class - but I can't help it!  We're going to play with TenSeconds Studio tools and just have pure fun!  You'll learn the basics of metal repousse - the process of stretching metal to give it depth and dimension.  You can bring your favorite stamp or printed image and do your own thing while I show you all the tips and hints that make it work.  As a bonus, we'll color our metal with alcohol ink and/or copic markers.  Bound to be a class where you can experiment as you learn!

OTT LO - ok, that means "Over the top layout!!!"  Yes - this is truly going to be over the top.  One single layout that has 7 photos and pockets, folders, pull outs, etc.  This class will teach you how to pick colors as backgrounds for black and white photos.  

Get Published! - I've decided to add this class as I've now had over 145 projects published and it's a constant question that people have.  So, bring your photos, papers and embellishments and I'll show you what the publishers are looking for.  You'll learn how to lay out a Layout....how to use color to make your photo "pop" and we'll go over a publisher's calendar.  Another jam-packed class for sure!

Go Glueless! - Gluess, tapeless - can you believe you can make a book - a real book - with pages in it....and not use a single piece of glue or tape?  And this class is FREE!!!!  WOW!!!  It's our kick off to National Scrapbook Day so come and play with me - I guarantee you'll love what we do!

One Sheet Wonder - with Susan Mostek.  (SM)  Susan will show you how to take one 12" x 12" piece of paper and with a few clever cuts and folds, you'll end up with a fabulous tag book - a min album you can adorn with stamps, photos or embellishments.  I tell you, I've seen her make this and it really is a wonder!!!

Double - Slider Card - with Susan Mostek. (SM)  Susan will teach this truly delightful slider card.  These cards are so wonderful they will make the perfect gift - in fact, she will show you how to make a gift card out of one of them!  When you pull on the ribbon, the card slides open on both ends - truly a delight to make and give!

Brag Bag - for my final class in San Diego (I really did save the best for last!) we're going to make a purse with photo pockets that you can take with you and brag about your kids, your grandkids, your pets, your last vacation.....and the fun thing is that you can change the photos every time you leave the house.  OK - I had this thought - take photos with you and change it out half way through the event and you get to brag twice as much!  LOL!!!

and finally - on May 1 & 2, National Scrapbook Day  Weekend - I will be in the store all day long doing free demos and make-n-takes.  You will have to stop by every hour to see what I'm working on as I promise it will be something different!!!  And I will be there before the store opens to be first in line to get in!  Remember last year?  Who is bringing the donuts???  Who's got the diet coke??  And I wonder...will I have another "fire sale" this time?  When will it be?  How much off will I offer?  Dare I do it when the "boss" is in the store???  Oh - I can hardly wait!  See you all soon!

JLo's Creative Technique Card classes - coming soon!!!

I'm flying out to San Diego and will be teaching classes once again from July 19 - 27 at the store! This trip, I'm going to teach you everything I learned at Ranger University and while I was on Ranger's Design Team. And then, as a bonus, I'll share with you the things I came up with mixing their products!

Now, why learn techniques? I think it just opens up new horizions, new ways to play with product, new ways to make backgrounds, decorate embellishments, remix colors.....the list is endless! For anyone who joined me in "scrap the crap" - you will love these classes even more!!!

This trip I'll be teaching 43 techniques. We've broken them down into 6 classes covering Alcohol Inks, Perfect Pearls, Colorwash, UTEE, and Distress Inks. But if you notice, Distress Inks includes Distress embossing powders and more! So don't just think about the title of the class - as each class will show you 6 - 8 different ways to use a specific product by itself or with other products.

This is your chance to learn everything they teach at Ranger University for ink and embossing powders without paying the cost of traveling to the east coast! I'll be coming back later this year and will teach even more techniques using pigment inks, embossing powders and more. I already have another 44 techniques lined up for those classes!!!

Now, just in case you don't already know, I attended Ranger University and am certified in ink and embossing powders. Then, I was selected to be on Ranger's Design Team. Tim Holtz was the Design Team leader and that included a special Design Team University where we were taught how to use every single product Ranger produces!!!

I've designed ATC sized cards with the technique on one side and the instructions on the back. You will go home with completed samples that have the instructions on the back. You never need to forget what you learned and will use these CTCs (Creative Technique Cards) over and over!

My sample set is in the store, so if you want to see them in person, just stop by! I'm working on a second set where I will decorate each CTC just to show you the endless possibilities!

I've used a 7Gypsies ATC holder and you can order yours at the store when you stop by! I'd suggest ordering the ATC hole punch as well! Those are 2 things you are just going to want to have on hand!

Complete all 6 classes while I'm in town and attend a free class where I will show you how to make faux mica, faux dichroic glass and more! AND - Scrapbook Your Life! and I will give you a certificate that shows you have completed all of these classes and are certified by the store in these techniques!!!

I can hardly wait! Just a little over 2 weeks and I'll be coming out to play!
